Day Order
The college was founded by the Congregation of Immaculate Conception to serve the socially and economically backward rural young women. Among the target people more than 50% of the parents are economically poor and more than 30% are below poverty line. The occupation of the parents is coolie, peasants and small scale business. More than 30% of the students are first generation learners. Thus the college aims at uplifting the standard of these young women children who in turn would become capable of elevating the status of their family and society.
It is spread over an area of 6266.64 Sq.km. It comprises of 3 Revenue Divisions, 9 Taluks and 14 Panchayat Unions. According to 2011 census, its population is 2159775 among which Male is 1080938 and Female is 1078837. Agriculture is the main occupation and most of them are uneducated. Major employment in the city is provided by industrial estates, hand loom, trading and commerce activities. The workforce participation rate in Dindigul is 35.24 percent.
